The Golden Ox has been voted the most popular restaurant in Brisbane.
The multi-award-winning restaurant and reception centre earned the Readers’ Choice Award from the prestigious Australian Good Food & Travel Guide.
In a voting process that lasted the whole of last year, the website, which attracts more than 1million hits a month, asked readers to vote for their favourite establishment.
The Golden Ox, on Brisbane’s northside, won the “restaurant” category for the region of Brisbane.
The Australian Good Food & Travel Guide (AGFG) said it was a massive achievement.
“There are so many popular restaurants in Brisbane, really great restaurants, so it’s just a fantastic achievement for The Golden Ox to receive the most votes,’’ spokesman Ling Qian said.
“We had an overwhelming response to the voting process. The results speak for themselves.”
The inaugural awards recognise establishments in categories including restaurants, wineries, bars and providores.
The Golden Ox owners Nick and Virginia Tzimas said they were honoured with the latest achievement.
“Peter Tzimas, our head chef, along with chef de cuisine Shannon Farmer, deserve hearty congratulations for constantly creating sensational menus, using fresh, seasonal produce,” Mr Tzimas said.
“We would like to thank our guests for their support and feedback for the past 38 years to enable us to grow and improve.
“We were so thrilled when Mr Qian confirmed we had won the award.”
