Wondering what gift could possibly express to your dad just how much you love him this Father’s Day? The Golden Ox has your bases covered with our Father’s Day Open Lunch & Dinner this September 1st.
Father’s Day originally began as a celebration of fatherhood by European Catholics on the 19th of March, St Joseph’s Day, starting as early as the Middle Ages. The Catholic Church followed suit of the Franciscans, otherwise known as the Order of the Friars Minor, by making an event of such an occasion, choosing to observe Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June, a tradition continued in many European nations.
Father’s day across the world varies, falling on different dates from country to country as well as having varying traditions. The USA only adopted such a day to complement Mother’s day in the early 1900s and popularised the tradition of giving red roses to father-type figures, while some Latin American countries still acknowledge the original date of March 19. In China, the number 8 and father are pronounced ‘ba’ and ‘ba-ba’ respectively, and so Father’s Day for them falls on August 8th! Oceanic countries, Australia included, celebrate in September for mostly unknown reasons, but don’t let that be a reason not to spoil dad this September!
Our Head Chef has articulated the perfect menu, playing host to such selections as grass-fed Rib Fillet, Barra Macadamia, Chicken Supreme, or Spring Lamp rump, making sure your dad has a variety of fine dining favourites to choose from. Entrées that will be sure to make his mouth water include Calamari, Chicken Risotto, Smoked salmon Caesar Salad, or Garlic Prawns.
If you have your sights set for the permanent position of ‘Favourite Child’, dessert at the award-winning Golden Ox is a must! Crème caramel, Brulee, and Pavlova will earn you a place in his heart, and our Chocolate and hazelnut flourless cake will ensure his day cannot be matched!
This Father’s Day Menu allows 2 dining options: a Main Course + Dessert + Tea & Coffee for $48pp that he’ll love; or a Three Couse + Tea & Coffee for $60pp. Chlildren’s Menu is also available.
